Have players hold the ball out straight out in front of their face with both hands. Quickly tap the ball back and forth, from one hand to the other, using the pads of the fingers and not the palm.
Have players repeat the same process with the ball straight above their heads. Lastly have them hold the ball down near the floor and repeat the drill one more time.
After performing the drill above have the players dribble with their right hand quickly, keeping the ball low and using the pads of their fingers to dribble. Have the players look at you, and not the ball, while performing this drill. After 30 seconds with the right hand repeat the drill with the left hand.
Learning how to dribble properly with the pads of the fingers is one of the keys to becoming a good ball handler. This drill is a great way to reinforce that.
